Shark Fin Reef

Hin Phae or San Cha-larm

East of Island #3. Stretching between Island #3 all the way to Boulder City, this superb, submerged ridge presents a stunning variation of scenery on the eastern side of the Similan Islands. Huge, imposing boulders of hard granite rise up from the seabed, breaking the surface at low tide. As the reef slopes down to 35m/115ft on the northeastern side the massive rock formations tumble together to create swim-thrus and narrow passageways adorned with vibrant sponges and ornate gorgonians. On the southwestern side the landscape changes as the towering, steep-sided boulders drop down to form a large canyon that carves its path across the sandy floor.
