Richelieu Rock is a limestone pinnacle 35m/115ft deep which sits alone and exposed between the Surin Islands and the mainland. Due to its geographical location, geology and surrounding deeper waters the pinnacle is a haven for a magnificent diversity of marine life, both large and small. Shaped like a huge horseshoe the open side faces south whereas the closed side which is the side nearest the water surface is facing north. This shape offers excellent protection from currents for both divers and marine life and the area is easily large enough to be dived twice on the same day.
