San Juan's unique and beautiful landscape is dominated by gentle, low profile reefs of coral colonies and red seaweed that stretch down to the west at 24m/79ft deep. To the east, soft, white sandy areas are punctuated by giant barrel sponges and colourful coral outcroppings covered by vibrant encrusting sponges of green, orange and yellow. Expansive fields of finger corals, lettuce coral, feathery hydroids and sea squirts provide camouflage and protection for snowflake moray eels.
