Punta Hanan's sloping, rocky hills are interspersed with crevices and channels carved by centuries of continuous water movement eroding the coral rock. An abundance of lacy seafans and golden gorgonians decorate the ridges and sway in the gentle current serving as protection for bluehead wrasse and reef butterflyfish. Encrusting corals of bright red and yellow paint the rocky overhangs where small schools of grey snapper congregate in the shadows.
