Cannons provides an interesting and contrasting topography of rocky hills filled with crevices that slope down to a rubbly bottom and stunning elkhorn coral gardens, home to an abundance of fish. In addition, there are a number of large cannons and several cannon balls scattered liberally across this shallow site believed to belong to the Spanish merchant galleon, San Francisco de Sales, which apparently sank here in April of 1761.
